These are Warblade Minatures Space Enforcers Corps metal minis. I painted them using a similar color scheme to the one they used in the image for the Kickstarter as I didn't have a better one in mind. I think they look good as a squad of hench goons and leader for some evil bad guy or evil organization of some kind. Heavily armored, so they can probably shrug off hits, but probably slow moving and probably not a good range of vision with those silly helmets. ha ha
Space Mage Reaper plastic mini. I tried to paint the sword as a laser sword or power sword of some kind (definitely not a light saber).
I've been rebasing some of my sci-fi minis onto smaller bases to be more consistent. At least ones where that's possible. I've left space orcs on larger bases as they tend to fit better on the larger bases. Anyway, while doing that with these troopers I also decided to repaint parts of them. I had originally painted them mostly light gray. I decided to make them a little more colorful and went with a color scheme based on 19th century Colonial British infantry, with red shirts/tunics and blue trousers, with white helmets. I like that color scheme better. You can see how they looked previously in the post here: https://talesofmirth.blogspot.com/2019/07/spaceship-troopers.html

Lovely goons and operatives, your repaints are very succesful I think!

Thanks, Iain! I was pleased with how they all turned out, and do like the new colors better.
ReplyDeleteThose Space Enforcers Corps are fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Paul!
DeleteThe red and gold on the enforcers looks pretty sharp! Very much - "yeah, we work for the rich guy over there who affords us the very best!"
ReplyDelete(or maybe "we work for the faux rich guy over there that likes everything to LOOK like it's all gold-plated to show off his 'fabulous wealth'... these guns LOOK pretty badass, and they MIGHT even work!")
If it is the far future, those plates of armour that seem like they'd be heavy, could be very light composite materials... or they could be styrofoam that's been painted gold to look fabulous but have no stopping power at all...? as for the vision slits, it's possible they rarely look out the actual vision slits and mostly just look at an interior Head Up Display on the interior of their face plate...?
I really like the new scheme for the other troopers as well (not that I dislike the old one!).
I am often torn with future soldiers as to whether I should do them in crazy alien world camouflage, or just whatever colour I like because with multi-spectrum vision enhancers and other detection and target tracking systems, actual visual camouflage could be completely useless!?
Thanks, Tim!
DeleteYeah, Red and gold (or bronze?) also feels like kind of a villainous color scheme to me. ha ha
I get what you mean about color schemes, and also about things like the visors and and vision slits vs some kind of heads up display. With sci-fi you can justify almost anything, and if it's fun it's good.
