Owl Bears

 Four hefty Owl Bears from TAG (The Assault Group). These are metal. I think the bodies are basically the same ones they made for their bears with dwarven riders, with added wings and feathers and other owl bear features, along with different heads, of course. Fun figures to paint. 

I tried to go for a couple of standard brownish owls/bears, like you might find in the woods.

Along with an arctic or polar owl bear and a melanistic owl bear.

Aliens: Invaders From Space

 These are some aliens from the board game, Starcadia Quest: Zenith Invaders.

Floating robot, whence it came I have forgotten.

It's a (Venusian Fly)Trap!

 Just finished off these plant-based minis from the game, Super Dungeon Explore: Forgotten King. I don't know if I will ever play the board game, but thought these could be useful for various sci-fi and fantasy skirmish games to have some different enemies. Could even use the big Little Shop of Horrors-esque plant as a stationary hazard for both sides in a game with other enemies.

Finally finished some aliens from a boardgame called Starcadia Quest. I don't know if I will ever play the actual game, but these minis seemed like a good fit for a more "whimlight" SF type of miniatures skirmish game, so I hope to play with some other rules (Five Parsecs or something else?).

On Fire

 or Up in Flames?

Finished some more Super Dungeon Explore minis. Most of the fire-based ones (from an expansion/supplement?).

A couple of shots of the whole group, where you can see the fire beetle and the fire dogs (or wolves or whatever they are).

And closeups of the big flames, pillar, and little flames.

The flames remind me of Muppets. I did their eyeliner and pupils with a pen, just following the sculpted lines.

 I painted the set of turtles from an old copy of Super Dungeon Explore. Possibly for use as monsters/foes in assorted fantasy and sci-fi games.

RBJ Squealers

 More minis from the RBJ Kickstarter. Just as the yippers were loosely, humorously, based on dog-faced kobolds, these are loosely based on the old idea of pig-faced goblins/orcs. These are also little guys around the size of most 28mm halflings or Reaper mouslings.

Creatures, Mostly Great

Finally got around to painting these beasts I have had for I don't know how long.

First some dinosaurs (from Hasslefree, if I recall correctly). Trying to come up with various color schemes so all of my dinos aren't just a mass of grays and browns.

A sabertooth cat (from Reaper, I believe)

A giant bat (also from Reaper). This is huge, with a wingspan of something like 20 feet in scale. Also quite hefty, as like the rest of these animals it is solid metal.

Seven More Dwarves

Seven more dwarves from Lead Adventures. They have a good assortment of female dwarves as well as male ones. They fit in well with GW and Foundry dwarves.

Dwarves and ...

Some assorted dwarves from Lead Adventures Miniatures, explorers, miners, etc., and a "friend" (dragon from Super Dungeon Explore, which I have had for a number of years).

Bugs!

My first box/batch "bugs", from the boardgame, Myth (I think they are called crawlers in that game). There are basically 2 slightly different soft plastic models (they come assmbled). I loosely based the color scheme on some images I found online of blue crabs. The main color is turquoise with a fairly strong blue wash and some drybrushing, blue metallic on the head shell and the ends of the legs, red/orange on the "arms", and bronze eyes/eyespots. (Foundry dwarf for scale - they're about the same height as GW dwarves, albeit generally even bulkier)

(the rock formation is another cardboard insert from some electronics - I will probably base it and paint it at some point)

Each box of these contains 10 figures, so I ordered a 2nd box to make sure I have enough for games like Operation Last Train.

Edited to add the 2nd batch of bugs. I tried a few in red just to see how that would look. I could always use them as soldier versions or something.

Shamblers and Stirges

Shambling mounds and swarm of stirges, all from Toad King Castings. Acquired through kickstarter projects. The shamblers are resin; there are 2 regular shamblers, the little guy, and the guy with the staff and a bag over one shoulder. The swarm of stirges (shown here with another stirge I had painted previously; possibly demonstrating a way to deal with stirges?) are base in two groups of 3, and one group each of 2 figures and 1 figure, so casualties can be removed as needed. They are metal miniatures.

The tallest shamblers are about 2 inches or 50 mm tall. The stirges' bodies are smaller than a 28mm human figure's head.
