Recently I bought a few old metal miniatures secondhand. I wanted to add more non-human types for potential use in sci-fi skirmish games or RPGs. I think these were originally made by some company in Nottingham, UK, but this post and the photos in it are not sponsored or endorsed or vetted by them.
I painted the space elves in a similar color scheme to a lot of my fantasy wood elves.
For the ogre, I was mostly thinking about the movie, Predator. Here are a few angles of the same mini.
And for this last figure my main inspiration was parakeets, so I'm going to say they are known as budgies in my universe (or maybe called "Kreet" in their own language?). If I ever do another one I might paint it yellow.

Nice sculpts brought to life by your painting.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I do like the old hand-sculpted mins.
DeleteThere is something wonderfully nostalgic about the pose of that space elf. Lovely work.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I had fun with them. They did bring to mind perusing old White Dwarf mags and GW catalogs decades ago.
DeleteLovely work, you kind of want the bases to be just goblin green, although yours are excellent, just nostalgia seeping through!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thanks, Iain! I know what you mean about goblin green bases, but I did want them to fit in with my other minis. :D
DeleteI LOVE the older metal GW minis too... Maybe it's nostalgia... maybe it's because there wasn't so much assembling and they were easier to paint... I don't know?
ReplyDeleteLovely paint jobs on all of these. I think my favourite is the "Kreet"!! I hope you do find another one and paint it yellow!!
Thanks, Tim! Yeah, I like to think it's not just nostalgia. I have seen some younger folks on the YouTubes getting into older (or old style) metal minis, too.
DeleteI probably will look for another "Kreet" eventually. Can't resist the idea of doing one in yellow. :D (wonder what would happen if these guys came up against a large reflective surface...)
