One Year Later

or
Space Murines!

Well, it is nearly one year later, and I finally got some more miniatures painted. First some space mouslings from Reaper, including the ultramurine in heavy armour and a crew of 3 space-mice.

And more character figures from Iron Mask Minis Musketeers line.
Dart Onion (riding and on foot) and his servant, Planchet, along with the lovely Constance, Queen's maid. Most of the miniatures in this line are dwarves, but these three characters are halflings.

And finally, the Cardinal and a Musketeer character, both with foot and riding versions.

I have more of the musketeers to paint, and backed another kickstarter for this line, so I will have more figures to assemble and paint one of these days. It's a fun range full of character. Eventually I hope to have enough to create some small forces for small battles. Maybe using some rules like Dan Mersey's Pikeman's Lament?

  1. A most interesting collection of figures well painted. I can't wait to see them in action...

    1. Thanks! Not sure about the space mouslings - maybe I could make a Rogue Stars group? Then I would need opponents (I do have the big space frogs from another ks).

    4. A worthy opponent indeed for the mouslings!

  2. I think the space mouslings were an option in the latest Reaper Bones Kickstarter - which we should finally be getting in... well... a few more months... But I think we didn't select them. Looking at yours all painted up, I kind of wish now that I had! Very nice.

I would LOVE to see entire units of those Iron Mask Minis!! I am working on some units for Pikeman's Lament myself - though they're not nearly so fun!

    1. Thanks, Tim!
You can always purchase them separately.
My units won't be very big. I don't have a lot of the figures and I don't paint quickly. I am experimenting with smaller units of only a couple of stands of 3 or 4 minis each. I think that will work better with my painting interests, table space, gaming interests, etc.

    2. Can you tell us more of your smaller unit experiments as it sounds most interesting?
      thanks

    3. Using something like "Strength Points" in Dragon Rampant? Brilliant. Love to see them in action!

  3. Like Tim says, strength points ala Dragon Rampant. So far all I have done with the idea is to glue some of my existing minis to some temporary bases (just black plastic cut down to 2x2 inch and 2x3 inch pieces, not painted or flocked or anything).
I have enough to make a couple of small Dragon Rampant armies, with 2 bases for each unit for the most part (I'll do the leaders a single figures).
Just need to decide on a scenario and get to the table. I'll post a report once I get it done.

I've been inspired by things like One Hour Wargames and Bob Cordery's small gridded games, as well as Tim's HOTT armies and similar examples.
