These ones are from the Theoc Space Dwarves kickstarter. There are some additional figures with separate arms and weapons, but I need to figure out how the arms should be attached. There is no clear peg and socket or anything. I suspect it will require some carving off of bits, pinning, and putty work. The ones here are all single-part all-in-one casting figures, which I usually prefer.
Command (maybe sergeant and lieutenant? or veteran/experienced?)
One type of gun
A different type of gun
I tried something different with the guns, adding the non-metallic light blue; maybe these are some sort of laser or energy weapons?
And just for fun, a Komodo dragon from Reaper. Not sure why I got this or what I would use it for. I painted it based on a Komodo dragon I saw in a zoo recently.

or they have silencers?!?
ReplyDeleteLooks like semi-automatic rifles above, smg's below
How do they see with their hats pulled down over their eyes? Note to self, don't stand in front of these guys once they lock'nload!
Those are visors. :)
DeleteYou might be right about the guns, I'm not familiar with different types of firearms. But since these are sci-fi troops, it might be some roughly equivalent sci-fi versions of those. Although, when I play games with them I don't think I will worry about such distinctions.
Yay! More Space Dwarves! These guys are really fun.
ReplyDeleteI have a couple from the Astropolis Kickstarter I need to paint at some point.
If you haven't checked it out there's another blogger working on a (bit more ambitious) space dwarf project:

In addition to all sorts of space dwarves - he's building armoured carriers for them and an entire armoured company!
Yep, Tim, you guessed right. These are from a different company than the Kromlech space dwarves I did previously (those were plastic or resin, and these are metal). The are similar enough in general proportions that they can work well together.
DeleteI'll check out that blog.
Thanks!
Love them Fitz & nice touch adding the blue on the weapons, as for the komodo Dragon if you just want some thing big a nasty hanging a round I think he fits the bill nicely mate :)
ReplyDeleteI also prefer one piece models when their metal.
Thanks, Frank!
DeleteI could probably put together quite a zoo with my various animals and animal-monsters. And who knows what kinds of critters could show up in alien landscapes.
Lovely looking space dwarfs! I like the visors, they look a bit like GW squats from the last century! Nice big monster too!

Thanks, Iain!
DeleteYeah, I like their resemblance to old school GW "squats". Sturdy little buggers.
I would love to see a komodo dragon companion variant for rangers of shadow deep. It's tough to see the scale in this pic. but I love your work here.
ReplyDeleteThanks! It's a Reaper mini, so it's around 28mm scale. It's big enough to tangle with a wolf, for example. Probably around 12ft+/2metres long in that scale.
